SUECIA – donde perdí, busqué y encontré a mí misma

Adoraba Madrid. Un año maravilloso de Erasmus seguido de dos prácticas en la farmacia y el proyecto final de la carrera, y por fin también el contrato laboral “indefinido”. La verdad es que después de 5 años viviendo en España y con una mala experiencia laboral, ya tenía ganas de algo nuevo: sentí que necesitaba un cambio radical. Así apareció un artículo en el cual buscában farmacéuticos europeos para trabajar en las farmacias en Suecia…

Todo pareció tan bonito y a la vez aventurero cuando estaba haciendo las entrevistas: la empresa cubría los gastos para aprender el idioma en Berlín durante 3 meses, nosotros candidatos no sabíamos las ciudades donde íbamos a trabajar y a parte teníamos que comprometernos para trabajar en la empresa mínimo 3 años. Total, una aventura loca… Loca no, lo siguiente…

Aquellos 3 meses en Berlin fueron como vivir en un programa, tipo Grande Hermano. Miedo, estrés, inseguridad por un lado y orgullo por otro, desarrollo personal e impaciencia ante la nueva vida en el país que jamás había estado antes… Aquella época pasó rapidísimo y al llegar a Suecia nos separamos y cada uno se marchó a la ciudad destinada – yo a la ciudad pequeña pero universitaria, llamada Skövde.

Aquí empecé mi nueva vida. Sola. Y vivir en Suecia solo no es lo mismo que vivir en España solo. Olvídate de cañas y tapas a cualquier hora de la tarde, olvídate de pasear por las calles bonitas de Madrid, olvídate de hacer cualquier locura el sábado por la noche, olvídate de hacer lo que sea y pasarlo bien porque Suecia no es un país para divertirse sino para deprimirse. Bueno, qizás se bromea sobre esto, pero en parte es realidad también. Yo misma tuve muchísima suerte porque encontré un grupo de españoles y justo en esta ciudad hay un montón de ellos. Somos como una familia grande: cuidamos uno del otro como si fuéramos hermanos y siempre hacemos muchos planes y excursiones.

 

Claro está que el idioma no se parece nada al castellano ni siquiera a mi lengua materna que es esloveno. Es una mezcla de inglés y alemán. Pero sí que es verdad, que yo misma tengo bastante facilidad para los idiomas y a parte del castellano y esloveno, hablo también fluido inglés, serbo-croata, un poco de italiano y ahora también sueco.

El principio fue durillo, sobretodo en la farmacia. Trabajando de cara al público no me enteraba de la mitad de las cosas que me pedían y la mayoría del tiempo me sentía tonta. Pero cada día fue mejor y la gente del pueblo donde trabajo, es muy maja y paciente y después de unos meses ya me defendía bastante bien. El problema es que lo práctico solo en el trabajo, y así, difícilmente se mejora un idioma. A veces todavía tengo dificultad en entenderlo todo, sobretodo fuera de la farmacia, porque son temas que no suelo hablar. Mi reto es empezar a leer en sueco y escuchar la radio, porque así seguro que lo mejoraría lo más rápido.

Lo peor y lo más duro es el tiempo. La verdad es que si que hay más sol de lo que uno se piensa, pero no pica como en España, ni mucho menos. ¿Y cómo es la gente? Pues peculiar. Pero en general son muy amables y siempre listos de echarte una mano cuando la necesitas. Lo únicoes que se toman su tiempo y espacio antes de que te dejen entrar cerquita y confiar en ti, pero cuando rompen esa barrera son muy dulces.

Bueno, suficiente son las criticas a este país, que Suecia también tiene lados positivos, ¿no lo crees? El país en sí es muy bonito, con muchos paisajes impresionantes. Si ya se te pasó la época de salir de fiesta, hacer locuras en la vida y quieres formar familia, ahorrar algo de dinero y además eres de la profesión sanitaria, Suecia es un país perfecto para ti. Es uno de los países con más ayudas sociales y con más derechos laborables. Pero antes de que te vengas, infórmate bien, porque ahora ya no es tan fácil entrar al país como antes, con tantos refugiados.

En fin, dicen que Suecia es como el cáncer. Cuanto más tiempo llevas aquí, mas difícil de que te vayas… La verdad es que cuando uno se acostumbra a este estilo y calidad de vida, es difícil renunciar a esas ventajas y al trabajo que se puede tener aquí. Es muy fácil también de comprarse una casa y un coche, y también se puede viajar mucho. Pero yo aun pienso que el sol, el mar mediterráneo y la familia no se puede comprar con ningún dineral, así que en un futuro lejano tengo pensado volver…

Mi opinión es que uno nunca se tiene que arrepentir de las decisiones tomadas. Siempre hay que coger las oportunidades que la vida te ofrece y lo importante es sacar el lado positivo de cada experiencia.

No siempre es fácil en la vida, pero solo así uno consigue a vivir sus sueños…
