Quando ero poco più che un’adolescente adoravo passare pomeriggi interi cantando canzoni inglesi e spagnole e stampandone i testi. Mi piaceva leggerli e capire ciò che dicevano. In questo modo ho appreso molte parole nuove e ho mosso i primi passi nel mondo della traduzione. Tuttavia, mi sono interessata più seriamente alle lingue nel momento in cui ho iniziato l’Università, e quindi ho iniziato a studiare in modo globale l’inglese e lo spagnolo. Con il passare dei mesi, l’apprendere a comunicare in una lingua diversa dalla mia, mi ha trasmesso sempre più un senso di cosmopolitismo e curiosità nei confronti del resto del mondo e nei confronti di tutte le cose interessanti che esistono al di fuori della mia nazione.

Dopo l’Erasmus sono tornata in Italia per continuare i miei studi, ma è stato quando sono arrivata a Barcellona nel 2015 per fare dei tirocini che mi sono resa conto di voler vivere qui, e così è stato. In Spagna ho trovato amici, ambienti multiculturali e moderni, opportunità di crescita personale e professionale.

La mia prima esperienza lavorativa è avvenuta durante il mio tirocinio a Barcellona in un Museo d’arte. Lì ho imparato tantissime cose nuove, e sono maturata molto da un punto di vista professionale. All’inizio un po’ di paura c’era, perché temevo di non soddisfare i miei superiori o di fare qualche errore stupido, ma poi mi sono resa conto che l’importante è dare se stessi e provare cose nuove anche se non si ha l’esperienza. Dagli errori si impara e si migliora, e proprio grazie a questi errori ho acquisito maggior sicurezza in me stessa riuscendo a raggiungere un vero contratto di lavoro.

Come ho già detto in precedenza, in Spagna non mi sono mai sentita una straniera, né tantomeno ho avuto nostalgia per la mia città natale. Da subito mi sono sentita a casa, e, grazie al mio ottimo livello di spagnolo (che ho sviluppato durante l’Erasmus), mi sono integrata perfettamente. Tuttavia, anche se si è principianti nella lingua, qui non ci si sente mai esclusi o alienati. Mi sento perfettamente integrata. La Spagna è la mia seconda casa e lo spagnolo a volte prende il sopravvento anche sull’italiano.

Da sempre ho avuto lo stimolo e il bisogno di scoprire cose nuove, di dare una scossa alla mia vita. Mi hanno sempre attratto i viaggi, i nuovi luoghi e le culture diverse dalla mia. Credo sia affascinante avere la possibilità di conoscere persone delle più svariate culture e poter scambiare idee e progetti con loro. La mia vita prima delle lingue era molto tranquilla e routinaria. Le lingue mi hanno dato la possibilità di essere meno pigra e di cavarmela da sola raggiungendo la totale indipendenza. Le lingue mi hanno regalato la libertà.

Credo che è sicuramente più facile apprendere nuove lingue con l’allenamento mentale acquisito durante gli studi universitari e le esperienze all’estero. In questi mesi sto studiando russo e francese, perché il mio amore per le lingue è infinito.Il mio principale consiglio, dettato dall’esperienza, è di non lasciarsi intimorire da ciò che ancora non si conosce. Non bisogna avere paura di seguire i propri sogni e le proprie curiosità e dare un taglio alla routine. Il mio consiglio è quello di apprendere le lingue, solo così ci si può rendere veramente liberi. Le lingue offrono nuove opportunità e un maggior raggio d’azione. Viaggiare arricchisce l’anima e la mente. Il mio consiglio è di osare, osare e osare!
